Hi experts,

I want to use the new BLE shield as a iBeacon receiver. It is possible?

Hello Andreas

not without reflashing the firmware.
You need to change the firmware to use Jeff Rowbergs BGLib implementation for Arduino in order to scan for iBeacons.
In a few weeks there will be the BTstack LE Arduino Shield available, where you can use BTstack from BlueKitchen on the Arduino.
We are preparing BLECentral, iBeacon Scanner, BLEPeriperal, iBeacon, ANCS and more sample sketches showing the use of the new BTstack Shield.

Hi Michael,

i bought your BTstack shield and it is working fine. I want to combine the BTstack shield together with Ethernet shield. It is possible from your perspective?
I recognized if I use pin 5 from the mega shield the sketch stopped working. If I changed to pin 33 the sketch is working properly. Can you explain me which pins from the mega are not usable.

Thanks for you help

Hi Andreas

We didn't try / succeed yet and there are many combinations of shields.

The BTstack LE Shield uses the SPI bus and pins 2, 4, 5, for control. If this collides with the Ethernet shield, you could modify either one of the shields and update the corresponding code to reflect the changed pin mapping.
