Hello

I have two of the v1 shields and I'm wondering if it is possible to flash the firmware for v2 on the v1 shield? I guess there will be some functions such as the interrupt that won't work but that doesn't matter to much for me right now.

Hi Frank,
version 1.1.0 of the firmware available on github is comparable to the v2.0 firmware for Shield v2.
I can downgrade the v2.0.0 firmware to work with the v1.0.0 shield if you are interested.

Do you have a CC-Debugger to reflash the firmware on the BLE112 module?

Cheers,
Michael.

Thanks for a fast reply.

What would be the difference between using v1.1.0 and the downgraded v2.0.0?

I have a CC Debugger and have been fiddling around with your firmware and the shield before.

How about the iBeacon firmware, would it be possible to use that one on the v1.0.0 shield?
And are there any limitations with that one?
Is it possible to use the iBeacon firmware and still be able to send and receive information between a phone and the shield?

Hi Frank,
I think there is no difference between v1.1.0 of the firmware and a downgraded version of the v2.0.0 firmware. They are most identical.
Even the baud rate change characteristic is there.

The iBeacon Firmware is not yet ported to the BLE Shield v1.0.0 and even providing both functionalities at the same time is not available on the BLE Shield v2.0.0.
Porting the iBeacon firmware to the v1.0.0 shield would be doable as well.

Melting both functionalities together into one firmware sound good and doable as well.
I'll work on this for both Shields now :-)

Cheers,
Michael.

Melting both together would be great, can't wait to see if it works :)

I will use v1.1.0 for now and good luck merging them.
